Eighteen days...

In about eighteen days there will be clicking and clacking of spikes echoing down a long hallway. Faces new and old will peer out like groundhogs just above the dugout to see the many faces that have waited for them since early October. This is the best time for any baseball fan. The 2009 season will unofficially get underway at that moment.

This season will be interesting to say the least. The Bronx will have a new Bomber in the heart of the line-up and some serious heat on the mound. Mark Teixeira, C.C. (which stands for Cha-Ching) Sabathia and A.J. (which stands for Adios Jays) Burnett are much needed additions to a team that underachieved in 2008. The money spent on these guys (among others) on top of the cash-cow that will be the New Yankee Stadium will be money well spent...hopefully.

The Red Sox lost out on the top two free-agent starters and compensated with acquisitions of Brad Penny and John Smoltz. Nothing against them but I mean...fugetaboutit. Add to that the compelte lack of activity by the O's and Jays
and you are looking at a two team race in the A.L. east ( Yanks and Rays ).
This season the Yankees, dare I say it, have enough to contend with the once cellar-dwelling Rays.

The Mets will still suck. Sorry but unless they get Manny or something, they will be staring up at the Phillies all season long.

PREDICTION:
The Yankees will win the East, the A.L. and beat the Cubs in the World Series...101 years and counting...
