A deal for Roy Halladay would put the bombers over-the-top in terms of pitching match-ups against the Sox and the Angels. But the question is who do the Yankees offer in order to land Halladay? Our guess that almost any deal will have to include a major league-ready starting pitcher, a top prospect outfielder, and / or a power-hitting infielder and or course cash. This is an opportunity they can not afford to miss.
Making this deal almost certainly locks the Yanks into a playoff berth and a chance to go deep ( preferably all the way ) in October.
Here are a few ideas on who could be offered for Halladay:
1. Austin Jackson, Ian Kennedy, Juan Miranda and cash—lots of cold hard cash
2. Ian Kennedy, Ramiro Pena, and the keys to Fort Knox
3. Sergio Mitre, Kei Igawa, Austin Jackson and the, infamous, tattered David Ortiz jersey
4. A three-team deal involving the Nationals Adam Dunn and Nick Johnson to the Jays, Yankees send the Nationals Shelly Duncan and Kei Igawa, the Jays send the Nats Kevin Millar and the Yanks send Austin Jackson to the Jays AND Brian Cashman drives an armored truck full of cash and gold doubloons to Rogers Centre, parks it on the mound and runs like heck to avoid the mad dash towards said truck. In a strange turn of events, the truck will become the 5th starter and win its first 4 games, and have its own bobble-head night.
