So far...

As the Bombers get ready to host the A's for three games at the new stadium they are 7-6. Dispite Wang's woes, there are a 3 of positives thus far in the season.

1. 4 or More. The Yanks are actually scoring runs and keeping themselves in games ( let us never mention the 22-4 clobbering again ). As fans may remember scoring runs last season was a bit of a problem for this team at times. One of the reasons they are enjoying early success...

2. Nick Swisher. I will admit, my preseason prediction numbers for Swish may be a bit modest, but hey they are predictions, I'm no Amazing Karnak. He has brought life and, dare I say it, an element of FUN to this team along with a solid bat and versatility. This is the stuff that has made him an instant fan-favorite. He won't hit .400 all season but if Nady is out for an extended period of time, Swish will get some at bats and get lots of chance to drive in runs.

3. Brett Gardner. I have been a fan of his since day one. Good hard-nosed player with speed. His hitting is improving as well. Although to date he is hitting .240 he is driving the ball much more than last season which will eventually translate to more hits and a little pop. He need to get on base more in order for the running game to be truly effective. Gardner winning the starting job in center seemed to cause Melky to step his game up.

Overall the team is playing pretty well but they must be consistent and have a few winning streaks to distance themselves from Boston and Tampa to ensure a playoff berth.
